Actaeon

Act On!

Actaeon is a brand that empowers people to participate in keeping our national parks thriving. With the reduction in space and overall health of the United State's national park system, it is a brand forged to combat and undo the harm that we have done to the environment. Actaeon was developed to make people who enjoy the beautiful scenery and freedom of America’s park systems to take action in fighting the spread of pollution and land consumption that greatly takes up and destroys ecosystems. Actaeon preserves nature through engagement in multiple formats and combats the destruction caused by pollution and negligence so that generations and wildlife can thrive in our national park systems.

How Does Actaeon Achieve Action?

Actaeon is a brand that values action! Those that choose to accept the challenge that the brand has to offer will become better at being aware of the parks that they walk through and observe everyday. Actaeon is a brand that works through three main sources of involvement, each one challenging the persons to do better, whether you are “kind of interested” or you embody this way of life. Actaeon encourages you to do better or at least keep in mind of how you view or live in America's national park systems.

The Entities

Actaeon features three different entities. When this brand was created COVID had struck causing a huge problem in bringing visitation and action to America’s national park systems. That said, this was the birthing of the first entity, the app/game that people could download and play. The app/ game was created to inform people of our national park systems, and to give them a fun and easy way to get involved. The app allows people to design, play, and interact with all of the activities that take place in a park. Which park you might ask, ALL OF THEM! This app has everything from a barebones desert to a woodland forest. The player gets to create their own biomes, what activities take place within them, and is always responsible for maintaining them. The choices are yours! Second is the website, where people can find out where they can get involved in their local vicinity to help clean up parks and why they should do it. Lastly, a field guide is drafted to cater to your park's needs. It advertises other parks to get involved in, encourages why you should get involved in cleaning parks, and hints at why a person should care about the ecosystem they are in. The brand exists to inform people about taking action in preserving national parks, regardless of why or how there are solutions for everyone to ACT ON!

The Bayou Bar and Grill is a local restaurant on Main Street in Manayunk. I was tasked with rebranding their restaurant by providing a new logo, menu redesign, identity redesign, and uniform design. The redesign aims to capture the essence of Creole culture by featuring traditional New Orleans paintings that have been stylized to emphasize the feeling of being impaired. This stylization was intentional as the restaurant attracts a lot of young adults in a party like setting, combining culture with the environment of how the bar behaves and celebrates the "good times" culture.

Catalyst is a movement developed and designed alongside TJU's Environmental Department that focuses on extreme sustainability. I was tasked with creating a social media experience, a rewards system, and a website. The social media application shares projects done by people, tracks users recycling data, shares daily world statistics and information regarding world health, and has an Augmentative Reality scanner for pop-up interactions and shows the best way to dispose of trash. Along with this, there is a built-in rewards system that showcases a T-shirt package with a pamphlet that states why this Catalyst movement exists and folds into a poster to prevent physical waste. Saving the world by turning trash into treasure.
